I don’t care if I’m attached or single, either way I love my Valentine’s Day! This Valentine’s Day I wanted to make sure my single friends (myself included) feel pampered and loved, so I decided to throw a cozy little soirèe full of lectin free desserts, appetizers, and plenty of pink champagne!
So, what desserts could be lectin free (grain free, which is by the way, beyond gluten free) and still delicious? Well, “Old World” Dark Chocolate Truffles to start. I’ve also made Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries just for a much needed punch of red for Valentine’s Day! Plus, I just love strawberries…
I am pulling out all the stops tonight… candles will be lit, a fire will roar, and flowers have been placed in every room! A long stemmed rose is ready for each attendee to take home. A few savory appetizers will also be on the menu to balance out the sweetness.
Aside from food, I wanted everyone (I love) to just laugh on a day where many can feel lonely or even sad. Even those in partnerships can often feel unhappy on a day that seems to unfortunately make people feel much pressure to be “romantic”. I get it, but I love romance any time of year and always seem to embrace any holiday no matter what my relationship status is. 🙂
To make things light, cheery and of course a little cheesy, we’ll be playing games by the fire (School of Life’s “The Confessions Game) and I’ll be showing the hilariously non-politically correct movie, “Airplane!”. Time to put everything PC aside! It’s a love story, after all, isn’t it? It’s perfect, the pilot has a “drinking problem” but longs for his long lost love (who just happens to be his inflight stewardess?), along with a girl scout bar fight , and plenty of other very random scenes makes this movie a comedic classic that will most definitely guarantee laughter!
Sending my love to you all and here’s hoping you give yourself the extra love you deserve in your life, whether that’s lectin free treats, a slapstick movie, time with your loved ones or all of the above! Happy Valentine’s Day!
