From posh magazines to casual talk among friends, I have longed to visit Napa’s Auberge Du Soleil. Work/life balance seems incredibly out of sync these days, making it all the more important to take time out to relax and unwind. With autoimmune challenges, it is a necessity to take extra care of myself.

Desperate for a spa day, my sisters, cousin and I needed a “time out” from the world. Overworked from stressful jobs, trying health conditions and personal challenges called us all to take an overdue spa day. I had only read about Auberge Du Soleil’s spa in luxury magazines. My expectations were set very high and I was curious if the spa would live up to those expectations.

When making the appointments, the spa gives priority to Auberge’s hotel guests. If you are seeking spa appointments without a hotel reservation, one is not always guaranteed a spot. That said, I highly recommend booking a morning spot in advance. According to the spa, it is atypical for guests to partake in a morning spa treatment after a Friday night of wine drinking in the Napa Valley. Book a spot on Saturday morning! We felt lucky to lock down four reservations within just a few weeks notice.

Although Auberge Du Soleil is conveniently located near Napa Valley’s most famous stretch of wineries, a slight trek up Rutherford Road whisks you away from the hustle and bustle of wine tasting.

Amidst tiny Tuscan-like rooms and a thoughtful pathway of olive trees, the spa is charmingly hidden away. Simple yet chic, I felt “invited” immediately.

Kimberly (the spa manager) warmly welcomed us and immediately we felt at ease; comfortable and ready for relaxation. We took a little time to settle in and enjoy the amenities before our scheduled appointments.

The outside pools are truly a treasure to behold. With water fountains and olive trees, it is tranquil, peaceful and serene.

The spa takes special effort to make the experience peaceful, only taking a limited number of guests at a time. What a treat to feel like the only guests at the entire spa!

Three pools are perched along an incredible vista of vineyards and gorgeous fir trees. There were temperatures of cold, “body temperature” and piping hot. Just like Goldilocks, we all opted for the “this-is-just-right” body temperature infinity pool with the central view. I couldn’t have been more pleased. There were optional snacks, water, chlorophyll drinks and dry brushes to add to the experience.

I opted for the “custom facial by ESPA” treatment while everyone else chose an assortment of massages. Curious about Auberge’s facial, I wanted a treatment that would address my skin’s needs. With Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, I have bouts of dry skin and a moisturizing facial sounded right up my alley. With luxurious serums, exfoliants, overdue extractions, and a divine series of massages ranging from my shoulders, neck, face, and scalp I was in heaven.

Little did I know the facial would be as relaxing as an overdue massage with all the benefits of beauty sleep.

Afterwards, I looked in the mirror and was shocked how radiant, smooth and young my skin looked. I couldn’t recommend it more and felt confident without a stitch of makeup! Sign me up!

After our treatments, we all headed back to the Goldilocks pool and soaked up more sun and gorgeous Napa skyline.

I was so happy and knew each of us needed this day in our own individual ways.

We then headed up to the Bistro for a late lunch. Delicious food and a short walk from the spa, the Bistro is a no-brainer, especially with the dramatic view of the Napa Valley and the excellent customer service.

If you are seeking “to get away from it all”, a recharge, or are simply visiting the Napa Valley, Auberge du Soleil should be on your list of things to do.

Luxuriously rustic with an unpretentious vibe, Auberge du Soleil is an absolute gem and I can say for a few hours, our cares and concerns were only distant memories…
