At 44, I don’t use botox, filler, or anything unnatural in my beauty routine and have decided to age naturally. I know, I’m going out on a limb. In all honesty, I have seen great results by reflecting health from the inside out. It’s something you just can’t fake. As a holistic health coach I want you to see who I am authentically as a reflection of my diet and lifestyle choices. And I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much sovereignty you actually have in the aging process. Yes, you can improve! You can have glowing skin, less wrinkles, improve elasticity, even as you age, and so much more by taking care of yourself on a much deeper level…

In my own health journey, I learned a lot about the toxicity and danger behind many things that are commonplace in society, which accelerate aging because of the taxation and stress on the body. That said, I want to share natural, safe methods and what I do to get better results naturally and bonus, your wallet is going to thank me too.

And news flash – it’s an inside game!

Years ago, I suffered from severe autoimmune symptoms. I had significant hair loss (which has grown back), eyebrow loss (also grown back), skin rashes which have cleared, and more. I also used to have wrinkles and expression lines that I have naturally smoothed out. You will be surprised at how quickly your body bounces back when you actually listen to it and love it back to health naturally.

I learned so much in a decade with Lupus and Hashimoto’s and I have been living symptom-free, Pharma-free, and disease-free for 8 years now. And natural beauty reveals itself with clients within a few weeks of working together – which is incredibly rewarding. Skin starts to radiate, rashes completely go away, eyes sparkle, the ideal weight unveils itself naturally without grinding it at the gym, and genuine happiness from within. Optimal health is incredibly attractive and there is no faking it. If you are interested in working with me to overcome chronic illness naturally and achieve optimal health naturally, you can learn more here.

But without further adieu, I’m excited to break it down for you, this is a fun topic for me! Grab something to write with; we’re going to cover a lot.

Check For Nutrient Deficiencies

If you notice your hair, skin, nails, etc. are not quite as strong or radiant as they used to be – this is the first place to look. Also, when you are deficient, you can feel fatigued, cause anxiety, not sleep well, rely heavily on caffeine, alcohol to wind down, which can also impact your natural beauty.

Common deficiencies to look for are magnesium, potassium, B12, zinc, Vitamin D, iodine, iron, and when you are getting a blood panel done also check your sex hormones (like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), and don’t forget your thyroid.

Before reaching for supplements, look to your diet first. Many foods can be added in to give your body what it needs safely and naturally. In general, the body absorbs nutrients from foods much more efficiently than supplements. For potassium, for example, reach for an avocado which has double the amount of potassium than a banana without the sugar (or lectins). A great recipe to check out would be my Key Lime Kale Smoothie for potassium and many other beauty benefits.

Going Lectin-Free & Anti-Inflammatory

Embracing an anti-inflammatory, lectin-free diet that is easy on your entire system to understand, process, and digest, truly reveals beauty from the inside out. Anything that is stressful on the body is reflected outwardly. The truth is, plants have been here for billions of years and one could argue some are quite smart in developing ways to not be eaten. This is a whole topic within itself, but, essentially, just because something is a plant doesn’t mean it’s your friend, especially if your body is representing sensitivities or you don’t feel quite like yourself. To make it super easy for you, I developed a Free 12-Month Anti-Inflammatory Seasonal Food Guide you can access here. It is already filtered and curated for you to print out and shop month by month. Also, I only create anti-inflammatory recipes on my blog and my YouTube channel. I hope you’re delightfully surprised at how tasty this self-healing journey can be. When I create recipes, I want it to satisfy the foodie inside without feeling like you are on a “protocol” of any kind. It just requires a little creativity in the kitchen.

Eating Seasonally

Eating seasonally also encourages you to diversify your diet with minerals and vitamins which reflects in your vitality and will give you that glowing, vibrant look that can only be achieved from what you fuel yourself with. I’ll link the guide below.

Sometimes You Do Need To Supplement

Sometimes we do need to supplement due to deficiencies caused by modern farming practices, our lifestyle, and more. When shopping for supplements, look for clean, non-toxic supplements that are third-party tested. I can’t emphasize this enough, when working with clients, oftentimes they are taking supplements that are filled with inflammatory ingredients doing the opposite of its intention; wreaking havoc on their beauty and their health. Ingredients like seed oils, for example, are incredibly toxic. Since I get asked this a lot, I’ll link here to non-toxic supplements I recommend to clients that meet clean, non-toxic standards aforementioned. Always check with your health practitioner before introducing new supplements into your routine.

The Miracle Mineral: Zinc

I want to point this mineral out in particular. Taking zinc can be a game-changer for tackling age spots without applying chemical treatments or harsh lasers to your skin. Zinc plays a vital role in skin (and hair) health through several mechanisms. First, zinc naturally protects against the sun and has antibacterial properties to help treat eczema, inflammatory or bacterial acne, helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles when used with Vitamin C, and zinc also has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe redness and irritation linked to Melasma. Additionally, it may help regulate melanin production, potentially reducing the appearance of dark spots. Here is my go-to zinc supplement as well as my favorite zinc tinted sunscreen (non-toxic, cruelty-free, EWG-rated).

The Importance of Hydration

Proper hydration will reveal beautiful, plump skin and can help reduce under eye puffiness. Additionally, if you suffer from chronic fatigue and brain fog, hydration is also essential in terms of providing natural energy, clarity, but also gently detoxing the system naturally. After a decade with two autoimmune diseases, out of all the symptoms I struggled with fatigue and brain fog were my biggest struggles. Just getting through an average day was difficult for me without copious amounts of coffee. I created a free masterclass linked here to specifically address chronic fatigue now, along with a key healing element you need to implement ASAP in your healing journey, and I dispel a ton of myths about inflammation, symptoms, and disease that are holding you back from recognizing optimal health naturally. Be sure to check it out and grab something to write with – I cover a lot.

Another beauty secret on the hydration note: stop drinking tap water. Just stop. There is so much on this topic that I created a post entirely on this topic linked here: it’s called: Is your water making you sick? Please check it out. Ingredients found in tap water can damage your skin, hair, and worsen conditions like eczema, acne rosacea, and more. There are numerous easy fixes that are affordable to make necessary adjustments today.

Sleep: Get Your Shut Eye

How dreamy is it to wake up with zero bags under your eyes or clear bright eyes when you look in the mirror. At 44, I can tell you there is no better beauty hack than your beauty sleep. I hit the hay at 9:30 pm and make sure to get 8 hours of shut eye. When I sleep well, I see it reflected on my face. Prioritize your sleep, you can’t fake looking like you’ve slept. Make a good night’s sleep your non-negotiable.

Face Yoga Is A Game-Changer

Accept some days you will have expression lines, some days you will not. But, on the not so great days, you can do something about it for a refresh.

Now, don’t laugh, ok laugh at me, but I’m obsessed with Face Yoga. It’s a game changer and it is not fluff! I have a daily practice that felt funny initially; making funny faces in the mirror. However, I have seriously fallen in love with it and I now look forward to my face yoga practice. It’s “me time”. But in all seriousness, I have noticed my face lifted naturally, has more definition, reduction in wrinkles, and on a really personal note – it feels like self-care on such a deep, personal level subconsciously. Looking in the mirror, embracing who I am, flaws and all and loving myself through it. The more I do face yoga, the more I appreciate the unique person looking back at me in the mirror. If you don’t know where to start, oh boy, I’ve got a few YouTubers I can turn you onto that I love for free. Check out Trinh Georg, Blush With Me Parmita, and Face Yoga Superface.

The Kitchen Beauty Wonder: Baking Soda

I thought this was just a weird thing I used, but it turns out baking soda has a lot of beauty and health benefits. This kitchen staple isn’t just for baking—it’s a multitasking marvel for your beauty routine! It’s a fabulous exfoliant that gently sweeps away dead skin cells, revealing a radiant glow. I am not kidding; it’s awesome. Be gentle when exfoliate, and do not exfoliate above the ocular bone; the skin is very delicate under the eyes.

Baking soda’s exfoliating action helps clear up breakouts while soothing redness and helps keep your skin soft by removing excess oil and dirt. I also create a pasty baking soda mask on my t-zone, especially the nose, to naturally extract blackheads gently. I only apply the mask once a week and I leave the paste on until it dries and wash it off with warm water.

The Epic Clean Beauty Database: EWG

Not all my products are in the kitchen, so what about makeup, skincare, and chemical crap we put on our skin? I only use non-toxic skin care, makeup and hair products because chemicals found in everyday products are toxic, are linked to numerous health concerns and diseases, and are known endocrine disruptors – your hormone health impacts your beauty too. Endocrine disruptors can impact your skin’s texture, making it feel rough and patchy, cause hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, skin sensitivities, redness, acne, dryness, or oily skin, inflammation, and more.

Don’t get overwhelmed, here’s an easy fix for you – head to EWG.org. It is a fantastic database and search engine of all sorts of beauty products and it will tell you the level of toxicity specifically in each product, whether something has cancer-causing ingredients, known endocrine disruptors and more. You can discover new products, everything from shampoo to cleaning agents. I have found my favorite products this way and If you want to see what I use, I will link it here and it’s a tiny-but-mighty beauty list. All products are cruelty-free and EWG-rated which is the gold standard of cleanliness, and likely more affordable, and only things I absolutely love. I’m really picky. So, if it’s not on there, I have not found something love, love, love and would recommend. Also, the cool thing is, I never thought I would fall in love with clean products, but I did and saved some money along the way too compared to the expensive toxic products I used to use in the past.

As I created this post, I realized I could go on and on and on about this topic. Stay tuned, as I will likely post a part two to further enhance your beauty naturally! To be notified when I post next, be sure to join my newsletter here.
