Whatever happened to aging gracefully?

With lots of “anti-s” in this world, it’s time to start going with the flow.

Let’s glow at any age.

With today being my 40th, I can say I have lived a bit of life and have learned a thing or two. Not just about healing holistically, but also by finding the path to living vibrantly and optimally. Isn’t that the key to aging gracefully?

I think so.

So let’s get to it, Cristy! Tell me – what are the things you swear by! Well… it is more natural, compassionate, and gentle than you would think.

MUSIC

Music? Yes, yes, and yes. It instantly changes my mood, energy level, and state. I believe in aging gracefully, it includes being happy and fulfilled. Music is my go to for a pick me up and instant mood-booster. Not to mention I have different stations and playlists to inspire creative thought, encourage me to work out, or relax at the end of the day.

When I tell you that all things are interconnected, I truly mean it. Music inspires, motivates, encourages, lifts, and more. Wouldn’t you say by doing all of these things, it is, in essence encouraging healthier habits, thus, a healthier outlook, mentality, and physique? Check, check, check.

MEDITATION

I have practiced transcendental meditation for 3 years now. I encourage all forms of meditation, this is the form that most resonated with me. I use additional styles as well, depending on my mood. It centers, grounds, calms, and lifts me. It gives me much-needed rest and even energy. It has been a life-saver; mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

Forget the brow wrinkles… in fact, once I started meditating they simply went away. Concentrate on going within, relaxing, connecting, and feeling the Divine. It’s there for you every day and whenever you want. I not only love it, but look forward to it. It’s “my time”. A practice that boasts so many health benefits and also helps with stress management, you better believe you will be looking more vibrant and relaxed.

That’s true beauty, friends.

KEEP LEARNING

What keeps you mentally young (and strong) is learning something new. It can be anything; mathematics, science, language, crosswords, reading a book, knitting, meditation, athletics, playing an instrument or any new skill. Keep things fresh!

This doesn’t have to be a chore, just ask yourself: what makes me happy, what do I gravitate to, what do I enjoy? Let yourself lead you…

Science proves if we keep mentally active, we can eliminate the chances of stroke, memory loss, and more. Learning doesn’t stop after we graduate from school.

MOVEMENT

Nothing revitalizes my body, mind, spirit, and even skin more than a really great workout. Do I break my back at the gym? Nope. Actually, I have found better results doing the reverse. From someone who used to put hours into her workout, I can now say I have found a better way.

I want to avoid the hardness that comes from intense athleticism. I believe in breaking a sweat at least once a day; it releases toxins, stress, and tension. We carry this with us and it is essential to let it all go.

Keeping toned and fit is youthful in itself. I stay active daily with Pilates, an occasional run, hiking, yoga, and weights. It’s what I like and what feels good in my body. How about you? Gravitate to what you enjoy and most importantly, what is fun to you.

WHAT WE PUT IN OUR BODIES

What we put in our bodies directly impacts the way we look (and feel). I teach clients about facial mapping and what digestively could be going wrong if you notice, say, dark circles under your eyes or marionette lines.

Your body, face, mood, and more is always communicating to you. If you have a physical attribute or characteristic that doesn’t feel natural, it is time to start investigating.

I eat foods that are ethical, easy to digest, anti-inflammatory, and fuels (vs. poisons) me. It will show physically; weight, skin, hair, nails, etc..

Every time you eat or drink is an opportunity to fuel you mind, body, soul, and more.

At the end of the day, radiance, vibrancy, and aging gracefully are direct reflections of our daily actions. Once you start taking positive steps, your life will change; mentally, physically, and spiritually.
